Description

Oedo-Koh incense sticks with the revitalising scent of chrysanthemum

Enjoy the gentle, refreshing and revitalising scent of chrysanthemums. These flowers were loved by the people of Edo not only for their beauty, but also as a symbol of longevity. Since ancient times, Chrysanthemums were believed to prolong life.

It is said that the gardeners of Komagome and Sugamo near Edo started the chrysanthemum craze of the Edo period. The Edo people loved the fancy and spectacular and they loved beautiful and fragrant flowers. During the Edo period, the Chrysanthemum Festival became an annual event where people drank, for example, Chrysanthemum sake infused with medicinal flowers. The gentle, refreshing scent of chrysanthemum will delight you as much as the inhabitants of ancient Edo.

Oedo-Koh is a range of incense sticks produced in Japan by Nippon Kodo. It was inspired by the culture and ambience of the ancient city of Edo (now Tokyo). The scent of the chrysanthemums can be used at any time of day and is best suited for relaxation - whether meditating, doing yoga or a wellness treatment.

Only wealthy people and the nobility used to use the scent of incense. Even among ordinary people, who may not have had access to real scented woods, the fascination for these woods was great and they are often depicted in works of Kabuki and Joruri theatre.
