For a very long time, various delicacies of (South) East Asian cuisine have been gently cooked and served in multiple layers using special bamboo baskets. To this day, the traditional and very simple preparation method is indispensable.
Our small bamboo steamer, with a diameter of 8 inch, is suitable for up to 2 people. The bamboo baskets of the large steamer measure 10 inch diameter and can feed up to 4 people.
Before cooking, we recommend soaking the rice in water for a few hours to shorten the cooking time. For preparation in the steamer, line one or two baskets with the supplied cotton cloths, depending on the desired amount of rice, fill them with rice or other ingredients, and cover with the lid. Then fill a pot or wok with water so that about 0,79 inch of the bottom is covered. Place the steamer inside and turn up the heat. Alternatively, you can place the bamboo steamer on a smaller pot filled with water. Important: During the cooking process, make sure there is always enough water.
After cooking, the steamer and cotton cloths can be easily cleaned with a sponge, water, and, if necessary, some dish soap.
Note
The cooking time significantly depends on how long the rice has been soaked. If the rice is soaked for about 4 hours, the cooking time is approximately 30 minutes.
Caution
Never let the water run out while cooking, as the bamboo basket can burn. If you want to cook meat, fish, or vegetables, it is advisable to either brush the steaming surface with oil or cook the food on lettuce leaves.
Our bamboo steamer is made of high-quality, durable bamboo.
Simply clean our bamboo steamer with hot water and then pat it dry with a cotton cloth.
We provide 2 washable and reusable cotton cloths to ensure that none of the valuable rice grains slip through.
The rice grains are cooked solely by the rising steam. Delicious flavors and valuable nutrients are preserved.
Two baskets
Our bamboo steamer doesn't just come with one basket, it shines with not one but two durable bamboo compartments! This allows you to steam other delicacies such as dim sum, vegetables, fish, or meat simultaneously. Plus, the finished dish can be beautifully presented in the bamboo basket.
