What is Chicharrón Prensado? This authentic Mexican specialty is the result of pressing the little pieces of meat & skin (sancocho) that come off the chicharrón when frying. Put simply, it is everything delicious that goes to the bottom of the pan when making the crispy chicharrón you grew up loving.
This unique chicharrón is traditionally enjoyed as a filling for gorditas, quesadillas, pupusas, tamales or chicharrón con salsa.
How do you cook Chicharrón Prensado?
Chicharrón Prensado comes pre-cooked, packaged and ready for you to enjoy. Simply defrost and add to a hot skillet and stir for a few minutes. If you’d like, you can add some serranos, onions or your favorite sauce for an added kick of flavor.
How do you eat Chicharrón Prensado?
There’s no wrong way to eat Chicharrón Prensado. You can add Chicharrón Prensado to a quesadilla, make yourself some tacos, and even a sandwich! If you want to test your culinary skills, you can use it as a base for traditional gorditas or pupusas. Abuelita would be proud!
